DESCRIPTION
Allantoin Powder is widely used in skincare, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical formulations.
It's a white, odorless, water-soluble, and non-toxic compound widely used in skincare for its soothing, healing, and moisturizing properties.
It promotes cell regeneration, softens keratin to smooth rough skin, and acts as an anti-irritant. It is highly effective at low concentrations (0.1%–2%) in lotions, creams, serums, & Hair Care products.
Skin Benefits: Functions as a humectant and emollient, increasing water content in the skin while reducing irritation. It helps heal dry, damaged, or flaky skin and is used for treating diaper rash, sunburns, and reducing acne.
Usage Rate: Typically used at 0.1%–0.5%, with a maximum of 2% in cosmetic formulations.
Solubility: Dissolves in water; insoluble in oils. It is best incorporated into the water phase or cooling phase of emulsions.
Source: Naturally derived from plants like comfrey or synthetically produced (often from urea and glyoxylic acid).
Safety: Classified by the FDA as a safe and effective skin protectant.
Formulation Tips:
pH: Most stable in products with a pH range of 4 to 6.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
Dissolving: It has a low solubility in cold water, so it may require gentle heating (up to 50°C) to dissolve properly, or it can be added to the water phase before emulsification.
