D--Panthenol (also known as dexpanthenol or provitamin B5) is a highly effective, biologically active synthetic derivative of Vitamin B5. 

It's widely used in cosmetics. It acts as a humectant, soothing agent, and skin barrier repair ingredient. Once absorbed, it converts into pantothenic acid to promote cellular healing.
